Our Fair Trade Principals

Creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers
Single mothers are undoubtedly disadvantaged producers in Vietnam.

Transparency and accountability
We practice transparent management and commercial relations with all parties involved in the process.

Capacity building
The Soundly Sleeping Dragon silk sleeping bags are products of a long cooperation between the Finnish non-profit, Coalition for Environment and Development, and The Tan Minh Single Mothers' Cooperative. We are now capable of taking care of the production process independently.

Promoting Fair Trade
We always mention that the products are made by The Tan Minh Single Mothers' Cooperative also when the products are sold under different brand names. We only make and sell first quality products.

Payment of a fair price
Working for the cooperative gives us a very fair income especially when comparing to the money we earn from farming. We set our own prices and make sure that everyone in the supply chain gets their fair share.

Gender equity
Hmm.. We only have women in the group. We haven't refused any men as there haven't been any willing to join.

Working conditions
We are responsible for our own working conditions as we work at home. We visit our silk supplier frequently to make sure that their working conditions meet our and the Finnish non-profit's high standards.

No child labor
All of the cooperative members are over 18-years-old.

The environment
We are very concerned about the environment. The silk dye is the biggest single environmental concern in the sleeping bag making process. No harmful AZO dyes or flame retardants are used on the Soundly Sleeping Dragon -silk. The silk is regularly tested in an independent European Union certified laboratory to ensure that you get what you are paying for.

Trade relations
We do our best to maintain good trade relations with our suppliers and customers. We are still in the early stages of our business, we hope our customers & retailers to be fair with us too.
